the FOUR

Tell us about yourself!

My name is Jiska Fischer and I am a fashion writer for Amsterdam Fashion Week, which is an online newspaper for style and everything related to it. With my parents (mum a teacher, dad a university professor) being proper seventies hippies with beards and maxi-dresses, I grew up in a free-spirited environment. They taught me that the sky’s the limit and provided me with a healthy dose of self-confidence. This is something I want to pass on to my own children Felix (3) and Bella (1).

Trivia: I walk around barefoot, love bacon and mayonnaise, and I am more of a night-time person. When I can, I travel by horse. I enjoy music, writing, the internet, meeting new people and everything beautiful. My dream is to travel for a year with my husband David and our kids; to enjoy and experience different ways of living.

What is your connection to Abel?

Last month, I met Frances when doing an interview with her for Amsterdam Fashion Week. Right from the start, I fell in love with the look of Abel – and now that I’ve experienced Abel, I’m smitten with the scents. They are all one of a kind and I like that – a lot.

I love the fact that Frances made something that looks so beautiful, made sure that the scent itself was as good as it looked (understatement), and to make it commercially interesting. Because obviously, without selling, it’s just a hobby.

Furthermore, I like the entrepreneurial spirit which moved Frances from wine making to perfume making, and from New-Zealand to Amsterdam. To start over, re-invent and re-establish yourself in a new world, and succeeding. I love and admire that.

What is your favourite fragrance and how does it make you feel?

Actually, they all smell so good, I couldn’t decide which one is my favourite. But if I had to pick: I love Green Cedar because it’s outspoken and particular – in a good way. I think this scent matches my personality the best. I also like the softness of Nurture and the way it smells, so natural and pure.

What is inspiring you at the moment?

Learning new things (I love online, it has opened up a complete new world with endless possibilities), music (Truth by Alexander Ebert is a song that always makes me feel free), art (in all forms), traveling (to both nature and cities), meeting people (preferably of all varieties).
